The Spider-man teaser is nice. It is good. It is meaty with its plot reveals and story goodness. Harry as some sort of Rocket-Racer/ Green Goblin hybrid chasing after Spider-man, relationship woes with Mary-Jane, symbiote issues, Peter goes Emo, meets Gwen Stacy, deals with Sandman, gets rid of the symbiote in the classic bell-tower scene, at which point it falls on Brock who has just learnt Spider-man's identity and Venom is born. Good times.
pointed out that there is also a Transformers teaser that appeared on the Web yesterday. Now, that teaser is irritating. It reveals nothing. It is specifically designed so that you can't make out who is destroying the Mars Rover. My current money is on Megatron, but the lens flare is designed so you can't make out any details. What's worse is that it really interests me. It get's me excited about seeing the movie. At least, right up until the words "A Michael Bay film" appears underneath the title.
Now, I'm really not giving Mr.Bay much of chance. I haven't actually seen any of his movies. I just know them by reputation as a series of explosions, loosely tied together by plot. But still, the trailer... the trailer really makes me want to like the film. I want it to be good so very badly! But I know I'm just setting myself for disappointment. Oh well....
I have to admit, while I do consider Transformers: The Movie to be the height of filmmaking, it could also be defined as "a series of explosions, loosely tied together with plot, and pithy comments." That's what's this movie needs. Pithy comments. Maybe they should get Joss to write for them.
And unrelated note of this post: With strong Canadian dollar, the Omni I bought was actually a lot cheaper then I expected. So... I now have another two on the way.
Lounging for all!
